MNF Funds Six Documentaries

The MurthyNAYAK Foundation (MNF) is passionate in its belief that nonprofits and NGOs are doing great work in our communities, and that knowledge of their work should be shared without breaking their budgets. We approached the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, School of Media and Cultural Studies, in Mumbai, to support the production of documentary film projects in the areas of women’s and children’s welfare and education, ecology, and social justice and human rights. Developed in association with grassroots NGOs, six documentary films were funded by MNF to focus on rural and community development, gender and space, reproductive health, and syncretic cultures and communal amity. These films are being used by organizations for training, education, outreach, and fundraising.

By funding the projects of filmmakers, photographers, and other artists, it is a goal of MNF to raise consciousness and awareness of important issues, transforming ignorance and apathy into concern and activism. If a picture was once worth a thousand words, film and social media have increased that exponentially. It is our goal to support emerging artists in the social documentary sphere in India, whose work shines a light on important social issues, to sustain involvement that will push for social change.
