Guftgu
Meaning : Conversation

Guftgu looks to initiate conversations within practice and context. Emerging from dialogs with practitioners when our world seems restrained physically, the works incorporated in this curation expand on the processes behind a growing visual language within South Asia and the South Asian diaspora. Constructed as a curated collection of zines by Offset Projects, each of the zines included in this slipcase edition has been curated with intent and motivation carefully considered behind the subject of the work.

Featured photographers are: Adira Thekkuveettil, Arko Datto, Cheryl Mukherjee, Jaisingh Nageshwaran, Noon Meem, Amarnath Praful, Arun Vijai Mathavan, Diwas Raja KC, Nandita Raman, and Uma Bista.

Guftgu was edited and curated by Anshika Varma, who founded Offset Projects in New Delhi, India, in 2018. The 2022 printing and production were funded by PhotoSouthAsia, an initiative of the MurthyNAYAK Foundation.

Offset Projects works to create channels of engagement in photography and book-making through artist talks, workshops, residencies, curated reading rooms, and collaborative exercises in publishing. With the belief that storytelling lies at the heart of human creative energy, their mission is to make a space for collective engagement, meaningful critique, and reflective inquiry.
