At PhotoSouthAsia, we are firm believers that there is great value in artistic expression. It has value whether it is a passion on its own or a tool by which the wonders of world are evidenced. Under the tutelage of an experienced photographer, the lessons can be life changing. With limited photography programs available in South Asia, PSA sponsors workshops led by some of the region’s rising stars. We also offer scholarships to talented and heretofore undiscovered photographers, many from rural regions or small villages, where exposure to learning opportunities is limited.
The old argument is that the arts are frivolous. Extras are for those who can afford leisure time and are neither serious nor essential. But more than half of the world’s population are believed to be visual learners, and learning early how to observe the world around us is applicable to the sciences and technology, enhancing visualization, invention, and understanding – awakening curiosity and creativity in learners of all ages, in all fields. This is more than frivolity.
