Bharat Choudhary

Choudhary is a photographer based in Geneva, Switzerland. Educated at the University of Missouri, USA (Master of Arts in photojournalism), with a diploma in creative photography from the Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication, New Delhi, Choudhary has been working on The Silence of ‘Others,’ with Muslim youth in Britain, France, and the United States since 2009.

 

Honors & Awards

Choudhary was a finalist for the W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography (2015, 2013, 2012), and for the Aftermath Project Grant (2015). He served on the jury for the 9th China International Press Photo Competition, and was among PDN’s 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch (2013). He was awarded Getty Images Grant for Editorial Photography, Honorable Mention for the FREELENS Award at the LUMIX Festival, Hannover, Germany, U.K. winner of Magenta Flash Forward’s Emerging Photographer award, and Nominee of the Foam Paul Huf Award, and named Top International Photographer at the Pingyao International Photography Festival in China (2012). He received the Alexia Foundation for World Peace and Cultural Understanding Grant, and was included in the Moving Walls 19 Documentary Photography Exhibition of the Open Society Institute (2011). He won 2nd place of the Photocarti Fund, Emerging Vision Incentive Nominee of Pictures of the Year International (POYi), and The Guardian / Royal Photographic Society Joan Wakelin Award Finalist (2010). Choudhary was Gold Medal winner of the College Photographer of the Year International Picture Story, and winner of the 61st Missouri Photo Workshop Scholarship (2009). He was awarded the Ford Foundation International Fellowship for a MA in photojournalism (2008).
