With a meditative approach to image-making, Subramanian attempts to create a mental landscape, that is a response to experiencing the physical space. His work begins with his own preoccupation, a sense of concern and a feeling of connection with a particular ‘space.’ The expression then is a result of the need to understand, to relate, and ultimately discover new ways of experiencing and representing a place.
Exhibitions include Chobi Mela (2019), Chennai Photo Biennale (2019), Ellipsis: Between Word and Image at Jawahar Kala Kendra (2018), A Million Mutinies Later, a group show on Indian photography at Cardiff (2017), Serendipity Arts Festival (2016), Angkor Photo Festival (2015), and Delhi Photo Festival (2013).
