To strengthen regional cooperation on the foundation of the strong bilateral relations through cultural exchange, Serendipity Arts Foundation and Les Rencontres d’Arles announced the biggest photography, video, and new media grant, supported by the Institut Français en Inde — named the Serendipity Arles Grant, with the shared purpose of promoting cultural practices in South Asia.
The largest of its kind, the grant was awarded in two stages. Ten artists were awarded a grant of INR 70,000 (approximately 800 euros) and were shortlisted candidates with the opportunity to showcase their work at the 2020 edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival. The printing costs of the catalog of these artists’ works was paid for by PhotoSouthAsia, an initiative of the MurthyNAYAK Foundation.
Serendipity Arts Foundation is an organization that facilitates pluralistic cultural expressions, sparking conversations around the arts across the South Asian region. Committed to innovation and creativity, the aim of the foundation is to support practice and research in the arts, as well as to promote sustainability and education in the field through a range of cultural and collaborative initiatives. The foundation hosts projects through the year, which include institutional partnerships with artists and art organizations, educational initiatives, grants, and outreach programs across India.
