Soumya Sankar Bose (b.1990) completed a one-year diploma in photography from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, Dhaka. His project, Full Moon on a Dark Night, was awarded Magnum Foundation’s Photography and Social Justice Fellowship, and in 2018 he received Magnum Foundation’s Migration and Religion Grant. Bose also is recipient of the India Foundation for the Arts’ grant for the project Let’s Sing an Old Song, in 2015 and in 2017, and their book grant for Where the Birds Never Sing, in 2019. He was a participant in World Press Photo’s Joop Swart Masterclass, in 2019.
Bose’s work has appeared in print and online publications including: The New York Times, Granta, Indian Express, The Telegraph, BBC Online, Platform, Scroll.in, The Caravan, Conde Nast, The British Journal of Photography, and others. He lives and works in Kolkata and is represented by Experimenter Gallery.
