Vasl Artists’ Association is an NGO (nonprofit) contemporary arts organization, based in Karachi, Pakistan. Vasl was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to providing collaborative opportunities for international and nationwide artists through community art projects, exhibitions, publications, research opportunities, residencies, talks, and educational outreach programs for diverse audiences.
Vasl originates from Persian and Urdu poetry and describes an enriched, deep association of a physical or transcendent connection between two entities. As stated on the website, “Inspired by this philosophy, Vasl Artist’s Association functions as a platform for encouraging the freedom to express and nurture creativity. Vasl is affiliated with Triangle Network, founded in 1982, which is an international network of artists and visual arts organizations that support professional development and cultural exchange. More than 600 artists, locally and globally, have entered into Vasl residencies, attended workshops and created artistic projects that enrich their communities and the wider world.
